Edible and Medicinal Plants

“Forage and Feast” ~ Edible and Medicinal Plant Workshops

Come join us for a weekend of discovery and fun! Learn how to recognize and utilize common plants in their natural environment, then harvest them and prepare them into delicious meals! Wild plants also have medicinal properties, and far more nutrients than their cultivated counterparts. Not only that, but they are free for the harvesting! And, you will be pleasantly surprised at how good they taste. You will also learn basic botany, how to recognize families and use that information to enable you to find plants on your own.

These workshops are done in several ways: over a weekend, or as a 3-4 hour plant walk. For the weekend workshops, the first day is your introduction to wild plants, with identification and utilization our main focus, and the second day we concentrate more on harvesting and preparing a wild meal, with recipes and advice for using wild plants on a regular basis. These plants not only have incredible culinary qualities, but they are super-foods as well! Not to mention the fact that they can help you save on your grocery bill… The best way to learn to recognize plants is to see them several times during their growing season. Come out and experience these unique and useful workshops – you won’t regret it!
