Special Preview! The Bigger Picture of the New Moon in Gemini, May 26/27th, 2025

There’s something magical about a new Moon in Gemini that forms Quintile aspects with Mars and the North Node… maybe for an astrologer, you might say, but what about the rest of us? Astrologer or not, we can all appreciate the aesthetics of the wheel of the Zodiac as the planets advance, retrograde, co-mingle, square, trine and oppose one another in their never-ending dance through time and space. The deeper meanings of these cosmic interactions lay beneath this beautiful display, waiting for us to allow them to percolate up through our consciousness from the ancient Psyche that created them in the first place… or perhaps simply interpreted what was already there.

Some charts are rich with many aspects, while others have just a few, drawing attention more to the planets themselves and their positions rather than their interactions with one another. This new Moon chart happens to be very rich in aspects, with two quintiles in key positions relating directly to the new Moon.

A quintile is a very special aspect. It forms when a planet finds itself at 72º from another planet. A bi-quintile forms at 144º. These aspects speak to the magic of PHI, the Golden Ratio. This is the number that is present in the architecture that underlies all of Nature (think snail shells and the nautalis) and every piece of gorgeous art, music or dance. It is inherent in the physical body: just multiply the length of the hand by PHI (1.618) to find the length of the forearm, which, multiplied by PHI gives the length of the upper arm, etc. throughout the entire body. As such, a quintile indicates not just harmony, but also hidden gifts and talents, and the notion of synchronicity and creative opportunities.

As the new Moon invites us to sow the seeds of the dreams that we wish to see manifest, a quintile forming with Mars and with the North Node as well, might hold a special meaning for us all. A fiery Mars in Leo connects nicely with this lunation in airy Gemini, indicating hidden talents of leadership and communication coming to the forefront, that we may soon witness on the world stage and certainly for the individuals born on this day. North Node in Pisces quintile the new Moon speaks of a sense of fate, synchronicity and the magical unfolding of what is to come.

Other aspects adorning this chart are mostly trines (120º), sextiles (60º) and just a few squares (90º), underlying a planetary harmony that hopefully will be felt at the level of human affairs. As they (human affairs) are governed by the Moon, we can expect to witness diplomatic breakthroughs thanks to the talents of whomever happens to be in a position to negotiate.

The heaviness of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries is palpable, with ongoing wars based on differences in religion peaking in intensity. Venus, planet of the heart, is about to cross paths with Chiron, the Wounded Healer, both in Aries as well. The period in history marked by the Crusades could not be represented more aptly than by these planets aligning. Crusaders were driven by religious ideals and organized into military operations, their fervor and dedication to a cause being second to none. Hopefully, what we are witnessing in this day and age has a higher sense of universal belonging and brotherly love, thanks to Pluto in Aquarius, harbinger of the Age of Aquarius.

This idealistic Pluto orchestrates the holy march, wherever it may lead, through his positive connections to Saturn/Neptune and to the new Moon/Sun. Operating from the other side of the skies, he gives his support to the crusaders and their movement (whatever the equivalent might be in our times) while blessing the birth of new ideas and concepts that may lead us to better understanding what unites us and how to move past the division and strife that our world is experiencing rather intensely at this time.

Jupiter is the frontman, the spearhead to this whole operation, shouting from the last degrees of Gemini, “Onward Christian soldiers!”,  just prior to his ingress into Cancer, where the focus will be drastically different from the pulpit and megaphone he has had access to for the past year. Squaring the Nodes at his last “Hurrah!”, he reminds us that we align with our destiny when we follow the path of our heart to our highest and greatest good. Nothing less will do.

This Gemini New Moon is mentally electric, spiritually infused, and creatively lit. The conjunction with Mercury makes this a time for rapid integration, while Venus-Mars harmony fires up the heart— with the quintile aspects, a touch of destiny and creative genius is added to the picture.
