Full Moon in Leo, February 12th, 2025

Sarah Songbird

Imagine gearing up for a crucial performance, whether an actual on-stage event, or perhaps in a professional setting, such as a presentation to a board of directors. Your mind is sharp and focused, your energy is high, and you’re feeling ready for the race. You know you’re about to knock it out of the park. Then, a piece of the set falls on the stage just as you deliver your most heart-wrenching line; a crucial piece of information goes missing just as you present your main idea. But you don’t miss a beat - you take this challenge and you run with it, and your audience has no idea that you just encountered a major road-block. In fact, the whole performance is enhanced by a dramatic intervention that seems unreal, even providential. Ultimately, this will play out in your favor, as long as you are true to yourself and working with integrity.

These are the energies at play during this full Moon in Leo! A T-square from Uranus to the Sun and Moon will throw us for a loop, just as we are at the peak of our game. Then, magically, Jupiter swoops in at the final moment, not only to save the day, but also as a flash of uncanny insight or revelation that brings a depth and luminosity to your performance that you never imagined yourself capable of!

Moon in Leo is about passion, courage and self-expression. Sun conjunct Mercury in Aquarius denotes the collective voice/audience. Am I leading from the heart, or do I seek validation? This full Moon invites us to shed the masks we wear for approval and embrace who we truly are.

Mars is slowly approaching his stopping point, from which he will move direct on February 24th at 17º Cancer. This slowing down makes his connection to other planets longer and all the more potent. A trine formed with Saturn gives us inner drive and determination, as well as the discipline necessary to carry out our decisions and our actions. A recent square with Chiron has offered us enough resistance to push us to modify our behavior, especially when it comes to exercising inner strength and resolve.

Venus in Aries is also bringing out the feminine warrior archetype, embodied by the huntress Diana from Roman mythology, who was one face of Venus. Another example in the animal world would be the mama bear, who protects her cubs ferociously from outside threats. Since this full Moon highlights the theme of individual vs collective, we are looking to protect, nurture and love our inner child, that we proudly present for the world to witness, all the while keeping a close watch and staying true to our values.

There is a balance to be found in all of this, as we cannot expect to fully receive the benefits of the world’s recognition without surrendering our will to a higher power.

Key Themes:

  • Owning your creative voice. Trust in your ability to express yourself clearly and articulate your feelings authentically. You’ve got this!

  • Releasing fears around being seen. This is such a common fear to have, especially in our Western society, the role models of which are movie stars and billionaires made to look and seem “perfect” in the eyes of the public. We are all perfect in our imperfection, and we all deserve to be seen and appreciated for exactly who we are.

  • Letting go of control. There will always be something that is outside of your control, whether you like it or not. By aligning with a power greater than your ego/identity, whether you call it Divine Will, your higher self, God..., you allow forces that act upon your behalf to orchestrate your life according to your highest and greatest good. This requires a deep trust in the power of Creation.

  • Finding joy in self-expression. Big belly laughs are the best! Whether we play music, dance, write, paint, or participate in any creative endeavor, we can use this activity as a way to channel our creativity and tap into the wellspring of joy that lies within. This full Moon in Leo is the perfect time to make a lovely dinner to share with your beloved, paint that jaguar that you’ve been feeling so deeply, or just howl at the Moon!

Crystals for Leo’s Full Moon:

  • Citrine: To ignite confidence and attract abundance. This stone corresponds to the solar plexus chakra, which - when fully functional and active - propels us forward onto our journey. This, in turn, creates opportunities for us to bring in abundance and achieve well-being.

  • Carnelian: For creative inspiration and courage. Carnelian is known to help us overcome fear, particularly social anxiety and the fear of rejection. It stimulates the sacral chakra, known to be the wellspring of intimacy and creativity.

  • Pyrite: To step into leadership and align with your goals. This crystal is truly fascinating - its weight and density keep us grounded and focused. Forming a perfect cube, Pyrite is also called “Fool’s Gold” because of its golden metallic hue. It has a yang or masculine vibration, making it ideal for “making things happen.”
