Our full Moon today is exalted in Taurus. This means that she is at ease and feels welcomed by her host or hostess, in this case Venus, the ruler of Taurus. Moon is looking for stability, comfort, pleasure and ease. She is also very connected to the world beyond the senses, where dreams and divine inspiration originate, as she is in a sextile aspect (60º) with Neptune, keeper of the vast oceans of the subconscious mind. And, with the Sun in Scorpio, this amplifies the idea of introspection and deep emotions.
Today's Moon is known as the Frost Moon, or Beaver Moon, as it falls during the final stages of Autumn, a time of gathering resources before winter's arrival. It is celebrated in some European pagan traditions as the continuation of Samhain or Halloween, which marks the thinning of the veil between the living and the dead. This is a time to honor the ancestors and ask for their blessings to help us through the challenges of the darker and colder season ahead.
Neptune encourages us to go within and gather inner resources while Taurus offers grounding and stability, aligned with the natural cycles of life. This is an excellent time to reflect on material and emotional security as the year wanes.
That being said, our full Moon is closely conjunct Uranus (by 1º), the planet of sudden change, revolution and breakthroughs. In Taurus, where he has been present since 2019, this has meant disruption to rythms, stability, security and the status quo - remember what happened in 2020?
He will be leaving Taurus in April of 2026, ingressing into Gemini, a sign much better suited to his character. Great advances in technology, communications and global networking will be on the table, especially now that Pluto will have moved permanently (starting this Tuesday!) into Aquarius. AI has already begun to wow the public, and hopefully we will be able to use it as a beneficial tool rather than give it a sense of itself without the freedom that a conscious being deserves - otherwise we may be in it way over our heads.
Here are a few themes we may encounter during this lunation, and even into the weekend, as the Sun will be opposing Uranus in the next day or 2:
Breakthroughs relating to Venusian themes, such as relationships, artistic inspiration, motherhood, sisterhood, material well-being, finances and values.
Questioning routines, breaking addictions, being willing to change habits in order to experience something better for your physical, mental or emotional health.
Redefining the meaning of "normal," being proactive in finding peace, security and stability that are more grounded in Nature and natural rhythms.
Venus finds herself in a T-square (90º) with the nodes of the Moon, giving her a sense of fate or destiny. What values and relationships am I leaving behind, and what exactly am I creating for myself for the near and not-so-near future?
Other themes relating to the Sun's opposition to Uranus over the weekend:
Challenges with authority, especially fathers or father figures. This could absolutely apply to some of the more extreme reactions we have seen since the election, where some people are not taking it well at all.
Light-bulb moments, or sudden illumination of situations that may bring about a change of direction, intention or purpose.
Sudden liberation from something that may have been heavy or monotonous, complete with plot twists and unpredictable elements.
Originality, novelty, spontaneity and the desire to switch it up. With the Moon in Taurus, this could well relate to pleasure and sexuality, where routine and repetition tend to put a damper on things. This could also represent, generally speaking, the desire for change and the hope it engenders.
I realize that we all have busy lives and do not necessarily want to take the time to read a long blog post, which is why I have decided to shorten them, and instead spend time writing longer pieces that I will make available on my website. I am very grateful to all of you reading my blog, and I would like to continue offering you valuable content. Please let me know in the comments or by email what you would like to read more about, whether relating to Astrology, Crystals, Family Constellations or Life in general! Thank you so much for your support, and I look forward to continuing to serve you in the best way that I know how.
In Service and Gratitude,
Sarah Songbird
